Via an ever-expanding network of international contacts we work closely with clients in order to source the most appropriate solutions for interior design/architecture projects. 

Keeping abreast of suppliers' technical/aesthetic developments enables us to offer new and beautiful cutting-edge alternatives to 'traditional' materials, always ensuring the products we recommend have great 'sustainability' credibility, too. 

After a successful 30+ year career as a journalist, broadcaster and author, in 2015 Kathryn Flett was awarded an honorary M.Litt degree by the University of Brighton 'for services to journalism and broadcasting'; an appropriate end to a very exciting and rewarding career.

After re-training as an interior designer, Kathryn founded Luxe for Life as an Interior Design studio and was also offered a role as the Materials Librarian for a leading London-based architectural practice, specialising in luxury retail and hospitality projects worldwide. 

With access to an incredibly wide range of suppliers, Kathryn sought to expand the practice's materials' capacity, resulting in a beautiful 30-metre long physical library. 

With an ongoing emphasis on sustainability, the library currently features thousands of items — from marbles to carpets, via metals, plastics, glass, timber, fabrics and more. Recently, Kathryn has worked closely with the practice's IT partner in order to digitise the collection. It is now accessible to all the in-house architects/designers as they work with clients around in the world.

The journalist's ability to research to very tight deadlines has proved to be a highly transferable skill-set. Running a Materials Library includes working to briefs from architects and designers in order to come up with super-creative solutions super-fast! These can range from the relatively straightforward  —sourcing timber for a London-based refurb, for example — to something far more complex. A recent request was for us to come up with 'a flooring solution that looks like an oil slick but that isn't slippery'. We thrive on R&D!
